In 2010, Perceptive Software joined Lexmark International as a stand-alone business unit, and as a result, our presence is rapidly expanding into the global ECM marketplace.

Software Engineer

Perceptive Software, Inc., is always seeking Software Developers to join our Development team. The basic responsibilities of this position include analysis, design, development, unit testing, code consolidation, and code maintenance projects of our enterprise content management software. In addition, there will be opportunities to work with design/analysis teams in developing modules for new product types, developing new user interfaces, and help to provide strategies for performance testing.

Challenge

We believe that Development teams deliver superior products when they get the freedom to build software to their own level of satisfaction. Each of our teams is a self-organizing group of professionals who collaborate to invent masterful solutions.

Perceptive Software is now searching for talented Software Engineers in our Kansas City office where we are putting together several top-notch teams for new feature development. Because we are rapidly growing, there is considerable opportunity for leadership and advancement.
We want Software Engineers that get excited when discussing Scalability, Abstraction Layers and Concurrency; who feel they need to rid the world of Poorly Factored Code, Memory Leaks and Race Conditions; who are highly gratified to make a database query run 20% faster; who have a favorite data structure; who are annoyed by inconsistent placement of curly braces; who would read a book on Design Patterns just for fun; who are horrified when they discover an algorithm doesn’t run better than O(N); and who remember their very first program with great fondness.

We work with a variety of languages, platforms and tools, including but not limited to: C++ (extensively), C#, Java, Windows (extensively), Linux, Solaris, AIX, SQL Server, Oracle, Web Services, Visual Studio, Eclipse, CppUnit, NUnit, JUnit, COM, .NET, and WPF and Silverlight.

• Experience developing industrial strength client and server applications in Windows and/or Unix using C++, Java, and SQL using ANSI standards where applicable.
• Prior experience in a high volume consumer business a big plus.
• Priority will be given to resumes that arrive with information outlining programming abilities in C++ and/or Java.

Bronze Sponsor – Red Nova Labs

Red Nova Labs was founded and self-funded in 2009 as a web development and marketing agency as well as a technology think-tank for creating original, cutting-edge systems for web and mobile communications. On the service side the company supports interface design, back-end programming and online marketing. On the product side Red Nova Labs invents, builds and launches its own web-based platforms for various applications and vertical markets. To support both business models, its growing team of development engineers creates resourceful code generators which add practical ease to complex programming—enabling unprecedented speed in creating vibrant, multidimensional environments and utilities. Once a product is launched, each business operates autonomously as an independent unit, with full engineering and marketing support from Red Nova Labs on the back end.

Web Programmer

Since 2009 Red Nova Labs has grown from a small team of programmers and marketers to a break-even startup with 20+ employees and a cool private building on Rainbow Boulevard. Our customers have loved our software-as-a-service products; over 3,000 businesses now subscribe to our marketing platforms—and counting.

This is just the beginning. As a team of serial entrepreneurs, we’re sinking our teeth into any fresh web idea that survives a market analysis. Our growth is only limited by how fast we can execute on these massive models. That’s why we’re searching for talented programmers who want to innovate and tackle challenges like:
– Analyzing, innovating, architecting, developing software for databases, frameworks, core tech components
– Working with biz dev people to understand biz needs and translate them into tech design docs and products
– Writing code and unit tests to deliver high quality products and technologies
– Maintaining project timelines and meet all project deadlines
– Eagerly taking on unfamiliar problems and making the time to discover “best practice” solutions
– Contributing your own creative ideas to the business, including help on patents and intellectual property
– Eating your own dog food (don’t pass a plate of inventive spaghetti; clean it up for junior programmers)

Here, you’ll have the opportunity to create groundbreaking system architectures, complete with lots and lots of code. And you’ll get to work closely with business development as well as programmers, both of whom are vital in our collaborative environment that balances knowledge-sharing with blocks of focused, nonstop production time.
While a college degree is nice, it’s not a requirement here. We recognize that many great programmers are self-taught. In lieu of formal education, however, we’d like to see a list of your personal projects and the open-source projects you’ve contributed to. Here’s our wish-list of our new senior programmer’s resume:

– Comfortable with the LAMP stack
– PHP and JavaScript
– Solid understanding the principles of MVC and client /server web programming
– Knowledge of web services: both utilization and creation of APIs
– Knowledge of Linux

In our Westwood office (about a mile west of the Plaza) we maintain a fun environment but also a rapid-paced workflow. No one is spared from opinions, jokes and coaching—brilliance notwithstanding. In return we offer:

– Pay: Tell us what you’re worth in the market
– Relocation: Up to $10k moving expenses if you don’t live in KC metro area
– Stuff: Up to $5k to outfit your office with the tech you need to kick butt

– More stuff: Benefits, vacay, options
– Perks: Coffee, tea, juice, soda, fruit, nuts, candy, random lunches and happy hours, crunch-time dinners
